Here are some images of this home theater we did at SJM. We used behind the bar 4" stainless steel and 2" RA1263 on the front of the bar, which was back lit cobalt blue recycled bottle glass. Behind the concession stand we used 1x3 SUBR 1263 cobalt blue recycled bottle glass. We worked with Jack Fitzgerald and his company in Home Theater Lifestyles. They are amazing!

I received my gorgeous tile about an hour ago. I love it so much! I've taken my sample tile all over Houston for matching and have heard many "oohs and ahs" over the tile.

The boxes were beautifully and well-wrapped, and came in perfect condition. This is really saying alot; I've ordered many items lately and many (most) have come in shambles. One sconce was received and was so poorly wrapped that the glass dome was shattered to little bits.

I did open the packages to inspect. The bag with additional individual tiles was a nice and unexpected touch.

I chose my paint color for the breakfast room yesterday and have a small portion painted on the wall. As it turned out, the grout color that I chose matches almost perfectly.

Thank you for being such a pleasure to do business with. Since I am doing my kitchen remodel on a very limited budget, I'll be using laminate countertops, matching the dark gray color in the tiles. I splurged on the backsplash and it's really going to set off my kitchen.

CINCINNATI – Sunday July 18. 2010 - A home in suburban Hebron is exploding with activity today as the crew from "Kim's Closet" installs a re-designed room for a local family in only one weekend.

Kimberly Anderson, creator and executive producer of "Kim's Closet" brings her dream to life by helping a worthy Northern Kentucky family get their style back.

The filming, which will continue through Thursday includes shoots in multiple locations. The lucky subject, Jackie Alexander will be treated this week to a complete lifestyle makeover. This will include professional hair, make-up, jewelry by Silpada, head to toe attire by Dillards all choreographed and executed by the Show Host and Stylist, Kimberly Anderson.

Jackie Alexander, wife and mother of five, is a Special Education Director whose youngest child has Down Syndrome. At the "Kim's Closet Casting Call", Jackie set herself apart from the crowds of people vying to be the subject of the show by expressing to the producers "My house, my organization, style and spark have all fallen to the wayside. I only see shadows and glimpses of the woman I once was less than a decade ago." She went on to say "I need my confidence. I need my style. I need to find me again.

" The mission of "Kim's Closet" is to teach everyday women and men that changes in attitude, style and confidence will lead to new paths and countless opportunities for positive change in their lives. Anderson's passion for this belief in the compassionate cultivation of self-esteem has led her to a place where the show has become a reality in spades.

Local children can help create colored-glass mosaic

BINGHAMTON -- Susan Jablon hopes what she's doing this weekend will be "a gift to my children's hometown" and a colorful addition to life in downtown Binghamton.

Starting Friday, the Vestal artist whose mosaic artwork has been featured on the television programs "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" and "Hell's Kitchen" will begin creating a mosaic mural by gluing more than 30,000 pieces of colored glass to a wall, which used to be part of a fountain, by the former Lincoln First bank building.

And she's issued an open invitation to the community to be involved in the process. Children who come to the site Saturday can put their own pieces into the mosaic, she said. People also can sign up in advance on Jablon's Facebook page.

The mosaic will be a "reflection of color, imagery and light" and symbolize the rekindling of interest in downtown, said Jablon, who owns Susan Jablon Mosaics, an online glass tile company.

Planning for the mosaic began two years ago when Jablon was approached by the now-defunct Southern Tier Celebrates! to create a piece of public art in Binghamton. City officials picked the site, which is located across Court Street from Boscov's and River Read Books.

Jablon is financing the effort herself, with no tax money going into the project. She will be aided this weekend by her two children, both of whom are artists, and Chris Long, a mosaic artist who is volunteering his time. They plan to have one side of the wall done by the end of Sunday and decorate the other side of the wall over the summer.

The finished work will feature 400 different styles of mosaics in various sizes and textures, Jablon said. She hopes involving the community in the project will lessen the chance of any vandalism.

"We hope when people walk by, it will give them a moment of hope," she said.

Susan Jablon Mosaics applauds Galveston ISD, LA Morgan, and Artist Boat for their beautiful mosaic, and we are grateful for participating. Way to go!

The ribbon cutting event was held on May 13, 2010 to celebrate the accomplishment of the students in the Eco-Art Residency.They will cut the ribbon on two mosaic columns representing the Land, Sea, and Sky on Galveston Island created with hand built tiles made by students at LA MORGAN. Each column is 13 feet tall and has a diameter of 6.5 feet totaling over 169 square feet of mosaic work.

We Love working with our community here at SJM, near or far it doesn't matter, we are all in this together. We value and appreciate being included in such wonderful projects.

A 12" box bay type extension to the side yard expanded the kitchen plan creating a very functional U shaped Cabinet Plan.

Because this Home is located on a very small side street inaccessible to concrete trucks, the tedious Underpinning was done with bagged concrete mix and debris was hauled away with small pick up trucks.

Since the rear of the house was not built on adequate foundations severe settlement was causing separation of the rear half of the house. With the extensive underpinning required it was feasible to expand the existing basement and create more usable living space.

The Cabinets are a shaker style Custom Fabricated in G_space studios to maximize the small Kitchen area.
The Cabinets are finished with a multi layered paint process, then sealed with a low VOC, Water based polyurethane. Panels are bead board with flat panel in the upper sections.
The flooring is reclaimed Yellow Pine that was removed from the
North Philadelphia Devine Loraine Hotel

The backsplash is a handmade subway type tile from Anchor Bay
Glass accents are from Susan Jablon
Pulls are Nickel plate and amber glass.
A corner Lazy Susan adds much needed storage.
Countertops are veined Barricato Granite.

House was built in 1938 in East Kessler Park Dallas, TX. I believe the Kitchen had a remodel about 15 years ago. Here are the before and after pictures. I was able to remodel everything myself except the Kitchen countertop. I demo the back wall "hallway" where the flat top gas range is now, there was a build in cabinet that was never used. This gave me another 1 foot of aditional space along this wall in the kitchen. I also removed the existing door that lead into this hallway which created the galley style kitchen. I took the 2 Base cabinets for the sink & stove and pulled them off the wall approx. 3" with gave the kitchen a whole different look due to the normal galley style effect. Total cost was 15K. That includes new fridge, new five burner gas stove top, new glass vent a hood and dishwasher. The Countertop is made of Corain "rain cloud" new mix that gives the look of white marble with grey streaks. The backsplash is a custom design of glass mosaic and stainless steel tiles from a glass tile artist in up-state New York. The new cabinets are cherry with a chocolate glaze finsh. The floor is a multi-color slate "Earth Tone Colors, no Orange" on a diagonal pattern. The white upper cabinets are original to the Kitchen. I just had the glass frosted and changed the hardware.

Beautiful Mosaic Columns at Morgan Nearly Complete
L.A. Morgan Elementary students are finishing work on two column mosaics that depict the
animals, trees, wetlands other environmental features of Galveston Island and its surroundings.
One column represents from the beach to the sky and the other from the bay to the sky. All
ecosystems are represented: prairie, oak mott, dunes, freshwater wetland, saltwater wetland, open
bay, beach, the Gulf of Mexico and the air. The columns are 13 feet tall and 6.5 feet in diameter.
The mosaic is made of clay fired ceramics, glass tiles, ceramic tiles, mortar, and grout. If laid flat,
the art work would would cover 169 square feet. The project is the work of Morgan students and
local eco-art educator Lisa Jean Reznick, who operates the Artist Boat in Galveston. Students
participated in classes that integrate art and science lessons before, during, and after school. The
students hand-built clay pieces that represent barrier island animal life.
Artist Boat participation was supported by Morgan Principal Annette Dailey, the Bromberg
Foundation, City of Galveston, Unitarian Universalist Church, and Susan Jablon Mosaics.

I've watched hundreds of kitchen makeover shows in my lifetime. But something about this episode caught my eye. Kitchen has been finished for a few months so it’s my turn to share here. I really appreciate everyone’s help here in making this a reality, especially the early discussion on whether or not an island could fit (it does) and figuring out where to put the refrigerator. And many thanks to Mindimoo for all her advice!

We lived in the Cape Cod style house for almost five years before undergoing a two story addition off the back, which included a new dining area, mudroom, and family room downstairs and a new master bedroom and bath and another bedroom upstairs. We also reconfigured existing space, including the kitchen. When the house was built in the 1950s, the dining area was its own room off the kitchen. The previous owner took down the wall separating the rooms in the 90s, creating a peninsula between the work area and the dining area. In this remodel, we took out the peninsula entirely, making the whole kitchen a work area and moving the dining area into its own space in the addition. So we needed to redo the kitchen in order to make the previous dining area usable, but we couldn’t sink a lot of our budget into this portion of the project. Thanks to everyone here, we attempted to make smart choices for long term results. Our look is "contemporary cottage." Hope you enjoy looking!

So how does Jablon create the ORGANIKS Tiles? Well read on.

Damaged car windshields on being smashed are pulverized into glass powder, which through processing is formed into mosaic tiles shapes. The tiles are fire-resistant, water-resistant and the on board antimicrobial and antimold properties make it extremely durable.

The River Stone tiles on the other hand are available in Large, Medium, and Small sizes and one can opt for River Stone sheets in Amber, Black, Brown, White and Mixed colors. They are sold by the square foot, or in the stacked (sometimes called standing) variety sold by the linear foot.

Design green right into your decor

The hot new color in home decorating this season is green. No, you don’t have to paint your kitchen green or buy a green couch. But if you want to be hip to the latest trends, you may want to consider a kitchen countertop made of recycled car windshields or think about installing a programmable thermostat.

Interior designer and lifestyle enthusiast Libby Langdon said she is learning to incorporate “green” into her design work. She has joined Better Homes and Gardens and Green Works on The Living Green Tour and Exhibit that is traveling nationwide to educate consumers on how they can make the interior design of their homes better for the environment.

Even though she is new to green design, Langdon said she has discovered some smart solutions for consumers who want to live in a beautiful home that also is eco-friendly.

“What is so exciting about this pro-ject is that before this, I was aware of the green movement but hadn’t incorporated a lot of those elements into my designs. It has been so thrilling to work on this initiative and discover how many beautiful products have been created with the planet in mind to incorporate into interior design.”

Though the tour is not stopping in La Crosse, Langdon was happy to share some of the new products and ideas she has discovered for green living:

n The biggest notion is about repurposing, Langdon said. And the most obvious way of repurposing is to take something you already own and use it in a new way. For her, that meant taking her pine French country furniture and painting it glossy black. It totally changed her space “from French Country to Uber Mod,” Langdon said.

n If you don’t already own a piece for repurposing, then head to the flea market or your favorite thrift shop.
“You take old furniture from flea markets and thrift shops and use them in a completely new way. You’re using something already existing on the planet so trees don’t have to be cut down.”

To demonstrate that for the exhibit, she showed how baby furniture, such as a changing table, can be transformed when your baby grows up. By refacing the changing table and adding new knobs and a mirror, Langdon said, “Then it can be used as a console under a television.”

Or turn a dresser into a vanity.

Your only limit, Langdon said, is your imagination.

“And flea markets are the hip thing. You can take a bunch of different mismatched flea market items, paint with low-toxin paint, and create your own look and make your own style. If you paint a bunch of different items all white or high gloss black,” she said, you have an entirely different but unified look.

— Think beyond the obvious. It’s easy to see how painting a dresser could give it a fresh, new look, Langdon said. Now look around you and start using your imagination. “It’s the notion of taking items that are already on the planet and using them in different ways. Use towel bars as racks in hallways. You have to look at it with an open mind.”

— Turn down the thermostat.

“I have to tell you, I used to be one of those people who would keep my thermostat up. Now, with everything so expensive, I’ve lowered my thermostat and I wear an extra sweater. And I have saved so much money,” Langdon said. “I have a house in Sag Harbor that costs a fortune to heat. It’s kind of nice right now because it’s March and all the great cashmere sweaters are on sale,” she said, so buy yourself a beautiful sweater and wear as it you save money with your lowered thermostat.

And to make it really easy, install a programmable thermostat which can be programmed for a lower temperature while you sleep and while you’re gone from the house. “That’s definitely the way to go.”

— Invest in a good cloth bag and then take it with you to the grocery store. You can use it again and again and it will hold more and not be in danger of ripping like paper and plastic bags. “I have these reusable bags from IKEA. You save so much plastic. I have been doing that for a while. I hate the exercise of bringing in 900 bags from the grocery store. It’s so much easier if you have a few strong, sturdy bags.”

— Instead of a note pad for leaving family members notes, use a ceramic tile and a dry erase marker. That’s less paper to toss and it’s a fun way to leave messages. “People love writing on tiles.”

— Pay bills online and cut down on the amount of mail you receive. “It’s so frustrating how much paper you get in your mailbox.”

— Use a little bit less water. Don’t leave the water running when you’re brushing your teeth and don’t let the shower warm up for five minutes before climbing in.

— Think about green products when you are remodeling or building your house.

“There are a lot of really neat products. I’m crazy about EnviroGLAS in Plano, Texas. He takes tinted car windshields and beer bottles and old toilets and bathtubs and he grinds it up and makes the most beautiful countertops. In the kitchen, I did a countertop with chips of green, brown and clear glass. It costs less than granite and it’s very hip. It is so neat.”

— Readjust your thinking about green building and design. Artists have gotten in on the green movement, Langdon said, and green products are just as beautiful as other home decor products.

“I’m meeting a bunch of different people who are passionate about recycling, passionate about beautiful design. It has to be as beautiful or more beautiful than what’s out there,” she said. “This is not a mud hut with a thatched roof. It’s beautiful, chic and stylish. We had to get the artists into the green movement. They had to care about the aesthetic.”

It’s also becoming more affordable, Langdon said. “We can’t promote this if it is more expensive” than traditional design products.

— One of her favorite new products is a glass mosaic tile made by Susan Jablon Mosaics. “She takes car windshields, grinds them up, and turns them into glass mosaic tile. They’re to die for, in any color you want.”

— Cork and bamboo flooring. “The flooring is beautiful. And the cork is a byproduct of the bottle stopper industry,” she said, so the flooring is making good use of a byproduct. As for bamboo, that’s not even wood. It’s a renewable grass that grows quickly.

— Make it a point to look for green products because they’re more available now than ever. “There are all kinds of things online,” Langdon said. “You can discover things online that your local home improvement store might not think of. You don’t have to look too far to find lots of tips on green building.”

— Don’t be intimidated. Even doing one green thing is better than doing none, Langdon said.

“If everybody starts doing it, it will make a difference. For kids now, when they grow up it’s going to be a way of life. Green is not going away. It went from being a trend to being a lifestyle. This is here to stay. This is going to be normal.”

Going green: Pros offer tips on environmentally friendly living

Green is officially and unequivocally "in" -- a mere 38 years since the first Earth Day on April 22, 1970, was celebrated to promote concepts on how we might better care for the environment that sustains us.

While former Vice-President Al Gore's 2006 Academy Award-winning documentary on global warming, "An Inconvenient Truth," sounded an alarm, most Americans are only now beginning to implement simple ideas to save the Earth. Sure, we put our recyclables out on trash day, but, really, how many of us are toting re-usable, environmentally friendly bags to the grocery store every single trip or embracing fluorescent bulbs with gusto?

Suddenly, though, mainstream outlets are touting green lifestyles, making it easier to understand how we can make a responsible, even stylish, difference in home decor and construction.

HGTV, for instance, is for the first time building a Green Home, located in Tradition Hilton Head, a 5,300-acre master-planned community near the popular beach resort of Hilton Head, S.C. At just over 2,000 square feet, the fully furnished home has three bedrooms and two and a half baths, and features construction and design elements known to contribute to a more healthy living environment. When completed, the Green Home will have achieved a significant LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. LEED for Homes, a voluntary rating system, is a project of the U.S. Green Building Council. Plus, the network is giving away the home and its contents, including a GMC Yukon hybrid, a package valued at approximately $850,000, during a March 21-May 9 Green Home Giveaway.

"We are aware that many of our viewers are interested in hearing more about green lifestyles," says HGTV president Jim Samples. "The giveaway provides an excellent opportunity to showcase examples of affordable, accessible and eco-friendly approaches to living."

The sweepstakes will kick off at 9 p.m. March 23, on the "HGTV Green Home 2008" special, and will be hosted by "Carter Can" handyman Carter Oosterhouse. (For Oosterhouse's energy-saving tips, see the box at lower right.)

How green is the Green Home?

Highlights include pervious pavement (using pavers on the driveway allows rainwater to naturally seep into the ground); limited turf (less time and money invested in maintenance); low-flow toilets; individual room controls for heating and cooling; tankless water heaters; Energy Star appliances; waterproofing; and rapidly renewable wood flooring, such as bamboo.

Better Homes and Gardens is hitting the road for a 15-city, seven-month tour of America to spread its green living message. (Detroit is not a tour stop.) Using bio-diesel to get moving, the tour will feature a 2,500-square-foot Living Green Home and highlight eco-friendly rooms, integrated throughout with green products, materials and appliances to promote energy efficiency and everyday environmental practices.

The goal is to help consumers save money, live healthier and conserve natural resources. Experts such as renovation specialist Steven J. Whittle and interior designer Libby Langdon will be on hand to share how small changes can make a big "green" impact.

"What is so exciting about this project is that, before this, I was aware of the green movement but hadn't incorporated a lot of those elements into my designs," Langdon says. "It's rewarding when people check out what we've done and get tips on how to make the Earth as well as their homes a more beautiful place to live."

The Living Green Home will feature kitchen counters made from recycled glass and bottles, tiles made from old car windshields, cork and bamboo floors, and soy-based couches and surfaces in a resource room made from recycled toilets.

Coastal Living's March issue devotes a section to eco-friendly home improvements. Tips include using paints and finishes that are low- or zero-VOC (volatile organic compounds), which are durable, cost-effective and less harmful to humans; properly insulating walls and ducts to decrease bills by 30 percent; using reclaimed wood flooring; and creating driveways of "grasscrete" -- crushed seashells to allow rain water to seep in the ground.

Finally, "Green Living for Dummies" (Wiley, $19.99) by Yvonne Jeffery, Liz Barclay and Michael Grosvenor is now in bookstores. It is chock-full of ideas and tips, and the authors even suggest that frequent fliers donate to tree-planting programs when buying plane tickets to offset the carbon dioxide produced by jet flights. It sounds far-fetched, but then so did global warming not so long ago.

I learned so, so, so much from these forums--I basically consulted these forums for almost every decision in a whole house remodel. I really don't know what I would have done without them! The two things that stand out for me (and that I didn't see mentioned above)

--Susan Jablon glass tile. Everyone who comes in my house walks up to my backsplash and has to touch it. I had just about given up the idea of a glass tile backsplash before finding out about her site on this forum. The price of her tile, even with shipping, was about half of what I could have bought it for locally and it is gorgeous!

--reading about internet retailers and great products on here gave me the confidence to go ahead and order a lot of items on line. I had essentially universally a good experience with all of the on line retailers.

About the Artist, Susan Jablon

"The feel of running my fingers through loose tiles, it's like no other experience. It's like running your fingers through gold coins or precious stones. There's a certain beautiful quality in glass tiles, a unique vibrance that can't be found in any other material."

Many years ago, a young child sat in a third floor play room, enraptured by a mosaic art kit given to her by her grandmother. A strip of warm light spilling in from a nearby window illuminated the tiny tiles, as small hands pieced together the first in what would become a lifetime filled with mosaic creations.

Susan Jablon, mosaic artist and founder of Susan Jablon Mosaics, can't recall a time that art wasn't a huge part of her life. Her first encounter with mosaics came as a child of five years old. She remembers fondly her grandmother's gift; a small moment in a child's life that would have such an impact as the years progressed.

Born in New York, Susan was raised in a large family. She attended Wells College, a (then) all-women's college in Aurora, NY where she studied English. After graduating in 1972, she moved to Binghamton and worked with the English Department at Cornell. It was during this period that Susan Jablon met her husband.

In the following years, Susan Jablon entered the business world, working as the Assistant Director of Personnel and later the Assistant Director of Sales and Promotions at a local hospital. She used her spare time focusing on her artwork, painting, drawing, sculpting, and mosaicing. Through mosaics, she became a collector of sorts, holding on to broken dishes and found objects that could eventually be incorporated into her art.

In 1984 Susan's first child, daughter Emily was born; two years later, son Samuel followed. Wanting to spend more time with her children, she took a break from her career and spent the next ten years raising her children.

In the mid-nineties, Susan Jablon once again entered the world of business, this time working in management for Barnes and Noble Booksellers. Susan recalls a point, when working for the large bookseller, that she realized she was ready to leave the corporate world behind. "The creativity was going out faster than it was coming in. I was at a point in my life that I was ready to reevaluate, and decide what I really wanted to be doing."

Not surprisingly, she began focusing on art. She started to teach mosaic classes out of her home. Her 'non-judgmental' art classes re-introduced adults to the creative process. "As children we are encouraged to create art, but as we get older things change." As class enrollment grew, Susan started to look for materials. Unhappy with the selection she could find and wishing to accommodate both her classes and her own artistic passion, Susan began buying in bulk on eBay and mixing the tiles to create her own unique blends.

Realizing that there was a market for glass mosaics, Jablon drew upon her experience in business and, with a good deal of help from her husband, started her own Internet-based company in 2000. Susan Jablon's knowledge of mosaics and her artistic flair made her blends easily stand out in the crowd. Taking a personal approach to Internet sales—focusing on her customers and treating her product as art—Susan Jablon Mosaics began to grow. In six years, her company has transformed from a self-run business based out of a guest bedroom in her home to a 12 staff operation run out of a 14,000 square foot factory.

From 2000 on, good business decisions (and a few lucky breaks) have helped Susan's business expand. In 2002, Susan Jablon was approached by TLC network producers and asked to help design for a few up-and-coming home renovation shows. One she hit the airwaves, demand for her product and reaction to the episodes that featured it attracted the attention of programs like Trading Spaces and Hell's Kitchen, which have since exposed millions of viewers to her artistic flair and shown all of America the beauty of glass tiles.

Why has Susan seen so much success in her years as a tile designer? "The business, the tiles, they're the my love and my life at this point," she says. "I take particular pride in the relationships I develop with my clients." Answering her own phone, she's involved in every project from start to finish: creating unique blends, making suggestions, and offering design advice. It's this personal touch that keeps Susan Jablon, the artist, and Susan Jablon Mosaics, a force to be reckoned with in the world of glass tile mosaics.

I just installed your tiles yesterday onto my backsplash, and it's absolutely the best choice I could have made for my kitchen. I'm a dental hygienist, not a professional installer, but have done all of the tiling in our home from construction to adding finishing touches through the years. The way that the blend is mounted onto the clear sheets makes it so easy to install and adjust.

One of the stretches of my backsplash is 11 feet long. It includes one side of a corner window, a corner ledge, and has lots of natural light. I also wanted it to align perfectly with the open, angled end of the cabinet line, so I wanted to start there. Lots of pre-measuring, the ability to really visualize the grout lines, and plan for what went where before the mortar went on made for perfect alignment with the cabinets, ledge, and window and left minimal need for trimming. I'm very pleased with the outcome, as I have pondered this project for quite a while.

Q: I am having trouble with the Tile Designer loading. It says it is at 992% loading but it hangs up, what is wrong?

A: The Tile Designer has difficulty loading if your computer is using Intenet Explorer version 6.0.This version of IE is notorious for bugs and causes much trouble and havoc. Please download version 7.0 of Internet Explorer and you will sail through the loading process. If anyone is having any problems with the tile designer or any aspect of my site, please email me or send me a screen shot as I want to know of any problems.

Q: Is the ORGANiKS tile compatable with all the other tiles, and can it be mixed in the tile designer?

A: Yes! Absolutely., Clink of the choice SIZE TILE when in the first stagee of the tile designer. Select 1" tiles. The ORGANiKS tile is in the tile designer with the item code V and then the tile number. You can mix and match it in any way with all the other 1" tiles.

Q: I would like to mix stainless steel tiles in with glass tiles, is this possible?

A: Yes! With the arrival of the 4mm Stainless Steel Tiles, they will be available for blending in the 1" tiles, 3/4" tiles, 2" tiles and in the 1x3 subway size tiles. This should be available early February, 2008.

Q: I would like to mix different size tiles together. Is this possible?

A: Yes! Absolutely. We are designing grids for this process as I write this. We have this capability now and can help you with your designs around the tile designer, so call Susan at 607 349 0553. this capability should be in the tile designer in March 2008, but is certainly available now.f

Q: I have created a recipe in the Custom Blend Tile Designer and I am ready to place my order. How do I do this?

A: When you saved your blend the first time, you created an account for yourself. This is where you need to go now. Log in to your account and click on My Blends. This will show you all the blends you have created. You can order right from there by clicking on Buy. From there you will go into the shopping cart, where you can specify the area to be covered with tile, and proceed to specify and process your order.

Q: I want to order a sample of a blend before I order my full amount. How long will a sample take to get to me?

A: We ship samples out within 48 hours of receiving your order, and then shipping times apply.
Once we receive your full order, we ask for two weeks to make this for you, and then shipping times apply to your order. Susan Jablon Mosaics is located in Upstate New York. If you are in California, the shipping time to you is one week if we ship ground. If you are in Manhattan, it is two days. Express delivery available for an additional charge.

Q: What if I can’t wait two weeks, and I need my order expedited immediately. Is there a fee for expediting my order?

Q: I have received my blend, but I don’t understand how to install this.

A: A blend is a hand-made mosaic. It is a piece of art that will soon be adorning where you live, work or play. It is not similar to a ceramic tile installation process; it takes a certain amount of understanding and patience to do this work well. You need the right tools and equipment (see our section on Glass Tile Installation Techniques) and you need to approach this installation as the "art process" that it is. In our opinion, the best idea is to hire a professional installer. If that is possible, and he or she has questions, please encourage them to call me so we can discuss everything. If you will be doing this yourself, by all means, call me and let’s spend the time together going over everything you might want to review. The best results come from the customers who take the most time to understand what this process is and how to best achieve great results, easily and carefully.

Q: Can glass tile be put in a pool? What if my climate is freezing in the winter?

A: Absolutely YES!! Please visit my Amazing Glass Tile Gallery and feast your eyes on lots of pool installations that my customers are enjoying. Glass tile is exterior and interior rated, so your pool can be in a freezing climate and be very successful. It is the mortar that you install your glass tiles into that has to be unique: It needs to be latex modified. This gives the installation flexibility so that when it is freezing cold or blazing hot, the mortar can move, allowing the tile to adjust to the temperature changes.

Q: Can glass tile be used on a floor? Will it be slippery?

A: Yes, glass tile can be used on a floor, it can go anywhere that ceramic tile can go. A floor foundation must be screwed down completely and have no bounce or movement or squeaking. A cement floor is the perfect foundation for glass tile. Will it be slippery? Certainly, when wet. Wet surfaces are slippery and care must be taken, but is it slippery all on its own? No, a glass tile floor is like any normal floor.
